Biography
Janet Caldwell oversees all feature content at Fine Times Canada, from longform narratives and profiles to investigative deep dives and weekend reads. She has an eye for stories that capture something true about Canadian life, and she pushes her writers to go beyond the obvious in every piece.
Janet spent nearly a decade at Maclean's, first as a staff writer covering social issues and later as features editor. Before that, she worked at the Ottawa Citizen as a general assignment reporter and at Chatelaine as a contributing editor. Her 2019 Maclean's feature on rural school closures in Saskatchewan was a National Magazine Award finalist.
Janet grew up on a dairy farm outside Stratford, Ontario. She studied English at the University of Toronto and completed a journalism diploma at Centennial College. She is an avid gardener, a regular at the Stratford Festival, and has a small collection of first-edition Alice Munro novels that she refuses to lend to anyone.
