Biography
Kevin Thibault is Fine Times Canada's technology reporter, covering artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, Canadian startups, and the intersection of tech policy and everyday life. He writes explainers, founder profiles, and investigations into how major platforms affect Canadians' privacy and livelihoods.
Kevin started his journalism career at the National Post, where he covered the tech beat for three years and broke stories on data privacy failures at Canadian telecom companies. Before switching to journalism, he worked for two years as a systems analyst at a Montreal fintech startup, experience that gives him an edge when covering technical subjects.
Kevin grew up in Gatineau, Quebec, in a Franco-Ontarian family. He studied computer science at the University of Ottawa before earning a journalism diploma at Algonquin College. He is fully bilingual in French and English, builds mechanical keyboards as a hobby, follows the competitive Starcraft scene, and runs a small home server that he insists is "not overkill."
