Biography
Lisa Morrison is Fine Times Canada's entertainment reporter, covering Canadian film, television, music, and the creative industries. She reviews major releases, profiles emerging talent, and covers TIFF, the Junos, and the Canadian Screen Awards. Her interviews draw honest, revealing moments from artists who usually stick to talking points.
Lisa spent four years at the Toronto Star covering arts and entertainment, and before that she was a culture writer at the Georgia Straight in Vancouver. Her 2023 Star profile of a Newfoundland filmmaker who turned down a Hollywood deal to stay independent was widely shared and won a Canadian Arts Journalism Award honourable mention.
Lisa grew up in St. John's, Newfoundland, and still carries a trace of the accent. She studied English at Memorial University and completed a journalism program at the University of King's College. She speaks English and enough French to get by at Montreal film festivals, collects vintage movie posters, and plays guitar in a folk duo that performs at Toronto open mic nights.
