Biography
Ross Gallagher is Fine Times Canada's federal politics reporter, covering Parliament Hill, cabinet decisions, party leadership contests, and the intersection of policy and power. He files daily dispatches from Ottawa during sitting weeks and contributes weekly analysis columns that cut through the noise of partisan spin.
Ross reported from Parliament Hill for the Ottawa Citizen for six years, building a reputation for dogged source work and an ability to break stories on government policy before official announcements. Before the Citizen, he covered provincial politics at Queen's Park for the Hamilton Spectator. He has reported on four federal elections and two leadership races.
Ross grew up in Nepean, Ontario, the son of a retired RCMP officer and a government lawyer. He studied journalism at Carleton University, where he was news editor of the Charlatan. He speaks English and French, plays pickup basketball at the Carleton gym on weekends, and is known among Hill staffers for always having a coffee in hand regardless of the hour.
