Biography
Scott Perreault reports on the environment, climate policy, and the energy transition for Fine Times Canada. He covers carbon pricing, wildfire seasons, pipeline politics, conservation disputes, and the tension between resource development and environmental protection. His reporting is data-driven and grounded in the communities most affected by these issues.
Scott spent four years at the Vancouver Sun on the environment desk, covering BC's wildfire crisis, old-growth logging conflicts, and the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion. Before Vancouver, he worked at the Edmonton Journal covering the oil sands and Alberta's evolving climate policy. His Sun series on wildfire preparedness in BC's Interior was nominated for a Jack Webster Award.
Scott grew up in Sherbrooke, Quebec, in a bilingual family. He studied environmental science at McGill University before completing a master's in journalism at UBC. He speaks English and French, is a certified backcountry ski guide, and spends his winters in the Coast Mountains whenever his deadline schedule allows.
