Live dealer blackjack side bet RTPs vary wildly between Evolution tables - 21+3 showing 91.5% at some sites vs 96.3% at others

Been tracking Evolution Gaming's live blackjack side bet payouts across multiple sites for the past three weeks, and the RTP variance is concerning. Their 21+3 side bet (three-card poker hands using your two cards plus dealer's up card) is showing dramatically different return rates depending on which casino you're playing at.

At most mainstream sites, I'm seeing the standard 96.30% RTP on 21+3, but at least four operators are running modified paytables that drop this to 91.50% - a massive 4.8 percentage point difference. The suited trips payout has been reduced from 100:1 to 40:1, and straight flushes dropped from 40:1 to 25:1.

Perfect Pairs is even worse - standard should be 95.90% but I've logged sessions at 89.60% on sites using the reduced paytable. Mixed pair dropping from 5:1 to 3:1 kills the math completely.

Sites Running Standard RTPs (Verified)

These are paying the full Evolution standard rates based on my tracking:

  • Jackpot City - 96.30% on 21+3, 95.90% on Perfect Pairs
  • Royal Vegas - Standard paytables confirmed
  • Spin Palace - Full RTP versions

Sites Running Reduced RTPs (Confirmed)

These have definitely switched to the lower paytables:

  • Multiple Curacao-licensed operators
  • Several white-label brands

Anyone else noticed this pattern? The games look identical but the math is completely different. Evolution allows operators to choose paytable variants, but there's zero transparency about which version you're getting.

Not surprised at all. Evolution has been letting operators customize paytables for years, and most players never check the fine print. The house edge on side bets is already brutal - dropping Perfect Pairs from 95.90% to 89.60% is just predatory.

I stopped playing side bets entirely after tracking similar patterns last year. Even at the "good" RTPs, you're looking at 4-10% house edges. At the reduced rates, you might as well light your money on fire.

This is exactly why I stick to basic strategy on the main game. Side bets are sucker plays regardless of RTP, but the paytable manipulation makes it even worse.

That said, I've been having decent luck with the standard blackjack games at mBit - their Evolution tables seem to run the full RTP versions on side bets, though I rarely play them. Their main game rules are solid: 3:2 blackjack, dealer stands soft 17, double after split allowed.

The real issue is transparency. Evolution should force operators to display RTP info clearly, but they won't because it would hurt the bottom line. Players need to do their own research or get burned.

Wait, I'm confused - how do you even check what RTP you're getting? I've been playing 21+3 side bets thinking they were all the same. Are there specific signs to look for in the paytable?

Also, does this affect the main blackjack game too, or just the side bets? I'm pretty new to live dealer games and want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off.

@newbie_nick_qc - The main blackjack game rules are standardized by Evolution, so those RTPs stay consistent (around 99.28% with basic strategy). It's only the side bets that vary.

To check paytables, click the "i" info button on any live table - it should show the exact payouts for each hand type. For 21+3, look for suited trips: if it pays 100:1, you're getting the standard 96.30% RTP. If it's 40:1 or lower, you're on the reduced paytable.

I've been documenting this across Canadian-facing sites and Skycrown consistently runs the full Evolution paytables. Their live dealer section clearly displays RTP info, and I've verified the 21+3 side bet pays the standard rates through actual play tracking.

The variance you're seeing, Kate, matches my data. Operators can choose between Evolution's "Standard" and "Reduced" paytable packages. The reduced versions boost house edge by 3-5 percentage points across all side bets, but there's no requirement to advertise which version they're using.

This is bullshit, plain and simple. I'm dropping $500-1000 per session on these tables and finding out the casino is running inferior paytables without disclosure? That's borderline fraud.

VIP managers should be required to disclose this information upfront. When I'm getting comped for action, I want to know I'm playing the same game as everyone else, not some watered-down version.

Evolution needs to standardize this across all operators or require clear labeling. The current system is designed to mislead players.

Just checked the tables I usually play at and sure enough, Perfect Pairs is paying 3:1 for mixed pairs instead of 5:1. Been wondering why my side bet luck seemed worse lately - turns out it wasn't luck at all!

Thanks for the heads up, Kate. Going to stick to the main game from now on, or find sites with better paytables. This kind of thing really kills trust in online casinos.
