New member from Saskatoon - RBC blocking all crypto deposits but BMO works fine

Hey everyone! Just joined after lurking for a few weeks. I'm based in Saskatoon and having some banking headaches with crypto deposits.

RBC has been blocking every single Bitcoin and Ethereum purchase I try to make through Coinsquare and Bitbuy since last Tuesday. Get the same "transaction declined for security reasons" message every time, even for amounts as low as $75. Called them twice and they basically said crypto purchases are flagged automatically now.

Switched to my BMO account yesterday and boom -

00 Bitcoin purchase went through instantly, no questions asked. Anyone else dealing with RBC being this strict lately? Wondering if I should just move all my banking over to BMO at this point.

Also still figuring out which sites are actually reliable for us Saskatchewan players. The whole banking situation has me pretty confused about the best approach here.

RBC's been cracking down hard since October. They're flagging anything crypto-related as "high risk" now. BMO's still playing nice but don't count on it lasting forever - banks follow each other like sheep.

Your bigger problem is thinking crypto casinos are your best bet in Saskatchewan. Most of them have terrible withdrawal speeds and customer service that disappears when you actually need help.

Welcome to the forum! I've been tracking banking restrictions across Canada for months now. RBC started their crypto crackdown in Manitoba and Saskatchewan first, then rolled it out to other provinces. BMO and TD are still processing crypto purchases but with daily limits - BMO caps at $500/day, TD at $750.

For Saskatchewan players, I'd suggest checking out Qbet since their Interac e-Transfer process bypasses the crypto banking issues entirely. They process withdrawals within 12 hours and don't require the crypto conversion step that's causing your RBC problems.

Pro tip: Keep both bank accounts active. Rotate between them monthly so neither flags you as a "frequent crypto user" in their risk systems.

Brother, I feel your pain on the banking drama! Been dealing with similar nonsense here in BC. RBC froze my account for three days last month after I bought $800 in Bitcoin - had to go into the branch with two pieces of ID just to get it unlocked. Absolute joke.

Here's what's been working for me: I keep my main banking with RBC for mortgage and regular stuff, but opened a separate BMO account just for gaming deposits. Been running $400-600 weekly through BMO for crypto purchases and they haven't blinked yet. Last week I hit a massive $4,200 win on Pragmatic's Gates of Olympus and the crypto withdrawal came through BMO smooth as butter.

The key is keeping your gaming money separate from your main banking. I've been crushing it at BetOnline lately - their Bitcoin deposits are instant and they've got some killer progressive slots. Hit their Mega Moolah clone for

,800 just last Friday. Sometimes the banking hassle is worth it when you're hitting wins like that!

Stick with BMO for now but definitely keep that RBC account as backup. You never know when the banks will flip their policies again.

Had the exact same RBC issue here in Nova Scotia! Tried to buy

Been tracking progressive jackpot seeds across Canadian sites for the past month and noticed something significant with Pragmatic Play's Wolf Gold. The Mini jackpot seed dropped from $500 to

Specific question on MyStake's withdrawal process. After requesting a withdrawal, they send a confirmation email that you must click to authorize the cashout — this is a security step that's not common across most operators, MyStake is one of the few that does it. Mine arrived 3 hours and 11 minutes after I requested the withdrawal.

Is the 3-hour email delay typical? Looking at MyStake forum threads elsewhere, some folks say the email arrives within 5 minutes, some say 6+ hours. I'm wondering if the delay correlates with deposit size, account age, or just operational load.

Practical effect: my withdrawal didn't actually start processing until I clicked the link 3 hours later. Total time from request to BTC arrival was 4 hours 22 minutes, of which 3 hours was the email wait.

First spotted this change on December 18th when the Mini reset after a hit. Instead of the usual $500 base, it started climbing from

50. Checked my spreadsheet against historical data going back to October - this is definitely a recent change.

5,000, so it's only affecting the Mini tier. Anyone else noticed this or have insight into why Pragmatic would reduce the seed amounts? Seems like a significant change that affects the overall RTP calculation.

00 in Bitcoin three weeks ago and got declined twice. Switched to Scotia and it went through no problem.

Been playing mostly slots on weekends - nothing too crazy, usually $50-100 sessions. The crypto route definitely works better than trying to use credit cards directly.

Welcome from Ontario! I'm still pretty new to all this too. Quick question - when you say the BMO Bitcoin purchase went through instantly, does that mean the casino credited your account right away? I'm always confused about the timing between buying crypto and actually getting it into my gaming account.

Also wondering if there are any other payment methods that work well in Saskatchewan? I've heard Interac e-Transfer is popular but not sure which sites actually accept it reliably.

Fellow Saskatchewan player here! Been tracking this RBC situation since it started affecting players in Regina and Saskatoon. What you're experiencing is part of their new "Enhanced Security Protocol" that went live January 8th. They're auto-declining any transaction to known crypto exchanges, regardless of amount.

BMO is still your best bet for crypto purchases, but here's the thing - you might not even need crypto for most sites. I've been having great success with direct Interac e-Transfer deposits. Takes about 30 minutes to process versus the crypto route which can take 2-3 hours depending on network congestion.

I've been using both methods depending on the site. Some places offer better bonuses for crypto deposits (usually 10-15% extra), while others have faster processing for Interac. Last month I tested withdrawal speeds at five different sites - crypto averaged 18 hours, Interac averaged 8 hours.

The banking landscape keeps changing for us Canadian players, so having multiple options is definitely the smart play. Keep that BMO account active and maybe consider opening a third account with a credit union - they tend to be more flexible with crypto purchases than the big banks.

That January 8th date from Promo Hunter matches exactly when my BCH deposits started getting flagged at RBC too. What's interesting is BMO seems to be treating crypto exchanges differently - they're processing the Bitcoin purchases but flagging them as "high-risk merchant" transactions, which means they go through but with a 48-hour hold on your account for additional purchases.

I switched to Bitcoin Cash specifically because the network fees are under $0.02 compared to Bitcoin's $8-12 range, but even that doesn't help when the banks are blocking at the exchange level. Have you tried Coinsquare instead of whatever exchange you're using? They seem to have better banking relationships with the Big 5 here.
